Alexander Pope

Stacy Read through Education Portal continues her lesson on the Restoration Period in Literature by providing an Introduction to Alexander Pope: Biography, Essays and Poems. Click the link to view the lesson.

The rape of the lock

As Stacy Pope tells us, "Alexander Pope is one of the premiere satirists in the English language, and The Rape of the Lock is his crowning achievement. Here, Pope writes about an  incredibly trivial event as though it's a war involving gods and epic heroes.  Watch our lesson for more details on this classic!" Don Quixote (as told by Mr. Magoo)

Mr. Magoo makes a perfect Don Quixote. He was forever getting into silly situations because he was so nearsighted he couldn't see what was going on around him -- however, he stubbornly refused to admit he couldn't see past his nose. Written during the Renaissance, Miguel Cervantes' timeless tale of the romantic adventures of Don Quixote pokes fun at the culture of knights.
